There are certain things one should know about before investing in a piece of body jewelry. Keep in mind; the quality of the jewelry you are pierced with plays a huge role in how your piercing heals, so this information is important.
Materials
Many of our clients are under the impression that, because they are unable to wear cheap mall jewelry, they can only wear gold. Not so! What is important is that your jewelry be made from materials that are time tested in the human body. Rockstar pierces with implant grade jewelry.
"Implant grade" means that the American Society for Testing Materials (or ASTM) has set aside certain tolerances in certain metals as specifically "implant-able" in the human body.
In steel, the recipe is 316LVM, and the ASTM tolerance code is F-138. All of the steel jewelry that Rockstar pierces with is 316LVM per ASTM F-138. We have mill certificates from all of our jewelry companies' metal suppliers to prove it. In titanium, the recipe is 6AL4V ELI per ASTM F-136. All of our titanium is also up to this specification. Again, we have independent proof on file, should you be interested.
